Calorimetry

Calorimetry allows scientists to determine the number of calories per gram in food by quantifying the amount of chemical energy it stores. A food calorimeter is used to measure the heat transferred by burning a food sample in a combustion chamber under an oxygen atmosphere. The energy produced in the combustion of food will heat the water surrounding the chamber. Enter the experiment to collect data of water temperature and food mass before and after the combustion of a food sample. Then you will be able to determine how many calories are in different types of food.
